Heide is responsible for providing members with a valuable experience during their membership. With over five years in Orlando's Hospitality industry, including working for Marriott International, Heide has actively played a role in providing guests with a unique experience upon arrival. Her experience and commitment has provided a new perspective for managing long-term relationships with our members.

Edward A. Haddad

Executive Director, Florida Academy of Sciences

Edward A. Haddad has been Executive Director of the Florida Academy of Sciences since 2004. He is a former Engineering and Management Consultant. Mr. Haddad is also Past-President and current Director of the Learning Institute for Elders at University of Central Florida. Kim Hunter

Kim Hunter

Senior Director of Exhibit Development

Whether a new exhibit debuts, an old favorite gets an extreme makeover, or a new traveling exhibit opens, Kim has had a hand in it. Her experience in exhibit development and informal learning spans 20 years - from the old Science Center to the new. Working with our team of exhibit fabricators she oversees all aspects of exhibit research, concept design, development and testing to make sure that our exhibits are educational-and fun, too.

 

 

Stephanie Kazmierzak-Esler

Science Interpreter

Stephanie works in the Public Programming department offering guests new and exciting ways to learn about science. She comes to us from the Franklin Institute in Philadelphia, PA, where she did everything from mummifying frogs to making spectrascopes. She holds a BS in Anthropology from Indiana University.

 

Brandan Lanman

Brandan Lanman

Director of Public Programming

Brandan oversees the daily operation of programs, including live presentations on earth space science, environmental science, paleontology, and chemistry. He joined the Science Center team as Manager of Space Science Programming in 2007. Prior to that, Brandan was Manager of the James Irving Holcomb Observatory and Planetarium in Indianapolis for four years. Brandan has a BS in Physics with a Minor in Astronomy from Butler University.

 

Kristian

Kristian Lattig

Science Interpreter - Physical Science

Kristian has a passion for Physics weather it be the Quantum or Astronomical realm. A graduate of the Florida Institute of Technology in 2003, he earned duel Bachelors degrees in Physics and Space Sciences, and was a Research Assistant in the Geospace Physics Lab. Currently a Physical Science Interpreter here at the Science Center you can see him in many of our programs including, Dr. Dare’s Lab, Science On a Sphere, and Kaboom!

 

 

J.J.Leissing

Public Programs Manager

J.J. manages the daily operations of live programming for science content in: astronomy, paleontology, biology, chemistry, and physics.  She works closely with both volunteers and staff in order to provide an educational and fun guest experience for all.  Prior to working at the Science Center, J.J. worked in the Education department at SeaWorld.  J.J. has a BS in Biology with a minor in Psychology from the University of Central Florida.

 

Jeff Stanford

Jeff Stanford

Vice President of Communications

As head of the Communications Department, Jeff oversees the team responsible for marketing, public relations, member relations, graphics, and the website. For the past 15 years, Jeff has provided premier marketing and PR support to several nonprofit organizations, including award-winning projects for Hospice of Central Florida, Heart of Florida United Way, and the Orlando Science Center.

 

Melanie

Melanie Turner

Science Interpreter - Early Childhood

Melanie gained a degree in Business with a minor in Education in 2005 from the University of Florida. In 2008 she joined the Orlando Science Center team with a focus on Early Childhood. She is dedicated and passionate about providing children and families with fun, meaningful and educational experiences, through programs, events and workshops. So gear up and head on over to the Science Center and get ready for an adventure.

 

Tim Walsh

Tim Walsh

NatureWorks Manager

From the age of ten, Tim has been actively involved in herpetology and has maintained an obsession ever since. He went on to receive a degree in Zoo Animal Technology and has worked in the zoo, aquarium and museum field for eighteen years. Tim has been involved in a wide variety of educational and conservation projects involving turtles.

 

 

“SEM Jim” White

Scanning Electron Microscope Technician

Jim provides public programming using the Hitachi S-3500N scanning electron microscope (SEM). He spent over 30 years employed in the semiconductor industry mostly with AT&T and its spinoffs. In addition to his work at the Science Center, he volunteers at the Audubon Center for Birds of Prey, traveling all over Florida with his wife and a live Bald Eagle.

 

Misty

Misty Yancey

Animal Care Technician

Misty is an animal care technician at the Orlando Science Center. She has a bachelor’s degree in marine science from Eckerd College. Prior to working at the Science Center, she worked as an aquarist at a small aquarium and performed field research. She monitored the nests of beach nesting bird and their habitats along with executing predator surveys. She also collected field data on why the Florida Grasshopper Sparrow populations in central Florida are decreasing. On her days off, she enjoys volunteering in the rehabilitation clinic at the Audubon Bird of Prey Center and a local veterinarian hospital.
