The 2013 Science of Wine saw a record number of more than 700 attendees sample wine, learn the science thereof and raise funds for Orlando Science Center’s educational programs.

Almost two dozen of Orlando’s top restaurants prepared delectable bites and more than 100 wines were available to taste. Information stations allowed guests to discover how wine is made and much more. In addition, Luis Torres of the Constellation Academy of Wine returned for the third year to give a seminar that examined how best to pair wine with cheese.

Thanks to presenting sponsor Akerman, wine provider Southern Wine & Spirits, restaurant partners, sponsors and educators for their support.

This past Tuesday was the groundbreaking for a monument honoring the Red Tail pilots of the Tuskegee Airmen. The event also paid tribute to three of those pilots who call Central Florida home.

The monument will be provided thanks to funding by Syd Levy and it is expected to be installed by Veterans Day, Nov. 11.
